Molly & Damian’s Backyard Wedding

Okay, where do I even start?!  I can’t even put into words how beautiful and sentimental this wedding was and how grateful I am for Molly and Damian for trusting me to bring their dreams to reality. On July 24, 2021 Molly and Damian went from happily engaged, to Mr and Mrs. Thomas-Gregory.  From the fun place settings, to the magical ceremony, you won’t want to miss this recap. 

About Molly and Damian

Molly and Damian’s story starts all the way back when they were in high school.  They met and fell in love with each other during all the awkward teenage years and watched each other grow into the people they are today.  They learned how to trust, forgive, and most importantly, they built a solid foundation to fall back on. Together, they graduated highschool, went off to (different!) colleges, got engaged, and now…you guessed it.  They’re MARRIED! 

The Wedding

Molly and Damian planned most of their wedding themselves and utilized our Event Management package to tie up those loose ends, confirm their vendors and let them enjoy their wedding day as guests – not exhausted hosts. It was super important to them to have a small, intimate wedding with only their favorite people present. This was perfect since Molly’s parents were kind enough to let the soon to be Mr. & Mrs. get married in their secluded backyard.   

And believe when I say their backyard was perfect for that CottageCore Style that Molly loves. Between the rural setting and the classic brick of Molly’s family home, the details came easy with such a fun backdrop to work with. 

Molly chose a softer color palette with multiple hues of pastel greens and blues with pops of pink. One of my favorite things about her design was that almost everything was mismatched! There were mismatched bridesmaid dresses (& we can’t forget about our bridesman), mismatched flatware, dinnerware and glassware and Molly even opted for mismatched bridesmaid bouquets from a local farmer’s market. This not only brought everything together, but kept everything so unique and effervescently Molly & Damian as well! 

Ever hear the saying “Something will go wrong on your wedding day?” Well for Molly & Damian, right as the ceremony was supposed to start, it started to POUR down rain.  Instead of panicking, we sprung into action and quickly made the decision to move cocktail hour to before the ceremony instead of after. This allowed guests to enjoy being covered under the tent and they got to enjoy some yummy appetizers and drinks while we waited out the storm. The rain cleared up in about 30 minutes and left us with a GORGEOUS outdoor ceremony that had everyone in tears.  With the dew and mist from the rain, the photos turned out phenomenal! 

DJ Graham from Dow Oak Events had the dance floor full all night long, and the rest of the evening went perfectly smooth (and yep! We were right on schedule!). This is just one of the many, many reasons you should hire at least a coordinator for your big day.
