Beyond the Destination: Courtney and Jordan's Wedding

From custom watercolor postcards to cascading blue hydrangeas down the bar, Courtney and Jordan’s wedding at Donovan Manor used intentional design. This day showed classic elegance met with personal storytelling, every detail felt not only beautiful but meant to be.

Courtney and Jordan brought a shared passion for travel and the destinations they’ve explored together. We used elements of travel, a concept that can easily slip into cliché, and elevated it into something timeless and sophisticated using intentional wedding design.

What unfolded was a day that felt like a beautifully curated journey. Woven seamlessly from the welcome table to the final dance of the night.

Timeless Elegance Meets Subtle Travel Elements

Hydrangeas were an easy choice for this design. Soft, vibrant, timeless, and Courtney’s favorite flower. Rather than using them simply as centerpieces, they acted as the design anchor for the entire space. The soft blue hue of the flowers complemented the linens, wallpaper, and tablescape.

We wanted the couple’s love for travel to guide the guest experience. Instead of forcing a theme, we looked for quiet, sophisticated nods to their adventures. The result was a design where the travel details and elegant aesthetic didn’t compete, they naturally elevated one another.

The Cocktail Hour: Setting the Scene

Instead of a traditional guest book, we put together a custom welcome table centered around a Petite Keep travel trunk. Custom watercolor postcards designed by Ashley Triggiano were used for guests to write a personal note to the couple. Each postcard illustrated one of the couple’s favorite destinations. Guests selected a postcard, wrote a note, and slipped it into the trunk for Courtney and Jordan to keep.

For the seating chart, our in-house craftsman built a custom seating display. It held embossed leather luggage tags crafted by a combination of our friends, Meriwether Designs & Home Street Creative. It was able to serve a dual purpose, a decorative-yet-functional piece for the space and a thoughtful keepsake for guests to use on their next adventure.

The centerpiece for this cocktail hour was the ice sculpture provided by Ice Occasions. At the top of the sculpture was an emblem of the intertwining initials of Courtney and Jordan. Underneath were tiers that held charcuterie for guests to enjoy with flowers embedded into the ice – talk about a statement!

Outside, several styled lounge spaces gave guests room to relax, sip cocktails, and enjoy their time before the reception doors opened.

The Reception

We let the hydrangeas take center stage as they held such personal meaning for Courtney. The velvet banquettes held lush floral gardens, and a dramatic cascade of blue hydrangeas flowed down the main bar. The floral pieces created a seamless design between the wallpaper and table linens, making the entire room feel cohesive and tailored to the couple.

The moment that pulled the entire room together was the custom dance floor wrap by JM Creative Design. The dance floor consisted of a delicate light blue pattern anchored at the center by a crest of Courtney and Jordan’s intertwining initials over a subtle outline of hydrangeas. It truly transformed the floor into a piece of art.

At the peak of the night, a hot pizza cart rolled out, making sure no one left hungry and the energy stayed high until the end of the night.
